The cards in question illustrate the railway travels of Sherlock Holmes, and were specially commissioned from the artist Douglas West (a keen railway enthusiast but perhaps best known for his Sherlock Holmes book illustrations and golfing prints who died in 2008). The actual paintings were done in 1997 and 2000 respectively but it is only recently that we have had time to issue them as Christmas cards complete with annotations which give some deductions concerning the illustrations themselves. The cards are approximately 6x4 inches and come with envelopes. Each is available either blank or with 'The compliments of the season' as in The Blue Carbuncle.
